How many of us are lucky enough to pursue our passion?

I grew up in Chennai - a city in the southern part of India - in the 80s’ and 90s’, in a typical conservative family. I always wished my mom stayed home and spent more time with me just like how it was for my friends but both my parents had to work to make ends meet. So I decided, when I grew up, I wanted to be home and be available for my family! Luckily, the hubby, kids and I were on the same page!

Coming from a culture-rich country, filled with vibrant colors in the spices we use to the temples we visit, I always had a passion and fascination for colors, designs and architecture. After moving to the US, every time I went to craft stores in the mall, I would just stand there awestruck and admire the plethora of colors and different bead designs. After a few visits, I thought, why not try making a necklace by myself so I can design it the way I want? With the help of books and you tube videos, I learnt how to make jewelry. I also took pictures of my designs and showcased my work in Facebook. I got a lot of appreciation and support from friends and family, for not only the jewelry but also for the photography. And soon enough, Touched By Designs Jewelry and Touched By Designs Photography were formed! It has been a slow but a very satisfying journey. I apply my knowledge in color theory and design principles to each and every piece I create, the pictures I take and the art I paint. :)

Happy kids, stress-free household and pursuing my passion! Can't ask for more.
